Murata Manufacturing has announced a ¥80 billion ($~530M) investment to expand MLCC production capacity. The plan splits into ¥40 billion in FY2026 and another ¥40 billion in FY2027, mainly at its Izumo plant in Shimane Prefecture, focusing on small, high-capacity MLCCs. Once fully operational, total capacity will rise by 10–15%.

In the fiscal year ended March 2026, Murata posted full-year sales of ¥1.8309 trillion (+5% YoY), operating profit of ¥281.8 billion (+0.8%), and net profit of ¥233.9 billion (flat). Its capacitor business stood out with sales of ¥936.4 billion, up 12.6%.
Looking ahead, Murata expects FY2026 revenue of ¥1.96 trillion (+7.1%) and operating profit of ¥380 billion (+34.8%), driven by data center demand. Capacitor revenue is forecast to reach ¥1.0617 trillion (+13.4%).
